XInput Input
XInput Input reads Xbox controllers and other devices that expose the Windows XInput interface.
Controls
- Detected XInput controller list and refresh
- Polling rate: 125, 250, 500, or 1000 Hz
- Write to Controller Output for direct passthrough (visible only in Developer Mode)
- Live polling and input-rate status
Use
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Connect the controller and refresh the list. |
| 2 | Select the correct controller slot. |
| 3 | Start at 250 Hz. For direct passthrough, enable Developer Mode and Write to Controller Output; leave it off when GPC 3 or another processor produces output. |
| 4 | Start XInput Input and verify the result in Device Monitor. |
Helios restores the previously selected XInput slot when it is connected. Otherwise it selects the first connected controller; no slot is selected when none are present.
Troubleshooting
- If several slots appear, move a stick while watching Device Monitor to identify the selected one.
- If no controller appears, reconnect it and close other remapping software.
- If a high polling selection is unstable, return to 250 Hz.
- If a virtual controller feeds back into the input path, stop the extra input/remapping tool to avoid duplicate input.
System Buttons
On supported Xbox controllers, the Guide button maps to BUTTON_1 and the Share button maps to BUTTON_18. Share capture depends on Windows GameInput support for the connected controller; other XInput controls continue to work when Share is unavailable.
