OBS Capture

OBS Capture receives video from the packaged Helios filter for OBS Studio. Use it when the desired image already exists in an OBS scene or when OBS must compose the source first.

Setup

Step Action
1 Install OBS Studio in its standard Windows location.
2 Open OBS Capture in Helios.
3 Click Install OBS Plugin or Update OBS Plugin when shown, then restart OBS.
4 In OBS, right-click the source and open Filters.
5 Add Helios Filter (A/V) for capture cards/cameras, or Helios Filter (Effect) for rendered sources.
6 In the filter, choose Source, 720p, 1080p, or 1440p resolution.
7 If needed, click Reload Helios Process ID in the OBS filter or copy the visible Process ID from Helios.
8 Start the CV script after OBS begins sending frames.

Use only one Helios filter at a time.

Troubleshooting

  • If OBS is not detected, confirm it is installed in the standard location.
  • If the Helios filter is missing, run the installer from the Helios panel with permission to update OBS, then restart OBS.
  • If Helios is not receiving frames, reopen the filter, reload the Process ID, and verify the correct filter type is attached to an active source.

For a capture card that does not need OBS composition, DS Capture, MF Capture, or Magewell Capture is usually simpler.
